Tan Hwa
Chuan
Tan has been in the Corporate line for the past 12 years with focus into
Property and Construction industry. He was appointed by a number of
organizations and government departments as Principal Consultants. For
example he was representing Malaysia Government to visit and study the
E-Government projects in UK and Singapore with focus in property life
cycle while doing his Master of Science in Warwick University.
He was also appointed by University Technology Malaysia to develop and
conduct Project Management Program course in Malaysia and China. This
course is developed based on PMI 9 knowledge areas. He is still working
as the part time lecturer for Master of Science in a local University
for the module Project Management.
Tan was serving as Head of Commercial and Board Advisor to an
established real estate agency with 26 years in Malaysia property
market. His roles are feasibility study, land matters, project
marketing, commercial office space, residential, development analysis,
etc.
Tan is currently managing partner of BIG Property Consultant Sdn Bhd, a
Land Consulting firm, which owned by Professor Datuk Dr. Nik Mohd Zain
who was previously the director general of Ministry of Land and Mining,
and currently the director for Island and Pennisular bhd, Eastern and
Oriental Bhd.
Tan graduated from Warwick University, UK, in master of science in
engineering business management. He was top student with flying color
results and scored 7A 2B. He completed 12 modules, 28 assignments and 1
thesis within 1 ½ year on part time basis. His thesis was focusing how
to streamline the workflow of property industry via the adoption of ICT
and deriving a business model.
Tan is
currently pursuing his PHD on part time basis with research topic,
‘Developing World Class Property Group via Learning From Successful
Property Group’. He is researching those successful property firms such
as Ascendas, Capital Land, KLK Group, IOI group and deriving a
successful framework and business model.
